Research Task 3: Condé Nast Style Magazines

Tatler is a UK based style magazine that focuses on providing insight into the fashion and lifestyle of the high society. The magazine is known for being a significantly upper class magazine and likely targets consumers in the higher part of ABC1 social grade citizens. Tatler is published monthly and frequently features royals and nobles of both the UK and other nations, as well as those from the highest classes in society.

While the Tatler magazine was first seen in 1709, the first issue of Tatler as what it is today was first released in 1901 by Clement Shorter with a similar focus to modern times, with news on fashion and gossip of the high classes. Tatler was acquired by Condé Nast in 1982. The magazine is notable in that on average, it has the wealthiest audience of Condé Nast's magazines, including Vogue.

British GQ is a UK branch of the american GQ. Also known as Gentlemen's Quarterly, the magazine is marketed towards ABC1 classified men, and focuses on men's fashion and style while also publishing articles on general men's culture in general. The magazine is commonly associated with metrosexuality, the term for men who are meticulous and particular about their fashion and appearance. The magazine publishes 10 issues yearly and usually features popular male celebrities on its front covers.

The British version of GQ was first released in 1988, 31 years after the first Gentlemen's Quarterly magazine was published in the US. GQ was bought by Condé Nast in 1979 and since then has produced articles beyond that of just fashion, having branched out into more men's topics like technology, sports and movies, as well as publishing more international versions of the magazine.

British Vogue is a branch of the original US Vogue. Based in London, it is the second magazine to be launched in Britain by Condé Nast. It is a fashion magazine which targets ABC1 classified readers and is published monthly. British Vogue is the most profitable British magazine, but makes most of its revenue from paid advertisement placements in its pages rather than from sales revenue.

British Vogue was the first version of a magazine to be published overseas in 1916, being a variant of the original Vogue in the USA. While mainly being a fashion magazine, British Vogue has also been known to report more news in the past, but has been more popular when it focuses on the latest syle and fashion instead. Nowadays it seeks to keep up with the best jewelry and the leading fashion labels.
